You will already know that the Bengal is stunningly attractive. If you are reading this you probably own or are thinking of owning a Bengal.
You need to know that they are: extremely ATHLETIC, AGILE & ACTIVE AND VERY INTELLIGENT.
Bengal’s need space to exercise. Stimulation needs to be provided in the home if they are to be kept permantly indoors. There are various excellent climbing frames on the market, but 2 or 3 strong cardboard boxes taped together with holes cut out at different heights work just as well. Small toys such as ping pong balls or scrunched up newspaper or tinfoil can be used as ground prey, they cost virtually nothing and give hours of fun and exercise. Our safety walking jackets are a good idea and they soon get used to "walkies". Put your trainers on to keep up with them !!
Something for them to strop the claws on is vital (clipping claws once a week saves your furniture) you will find that your Bengal is vocal, be flattered by this it means he thinks you are worth talking to. Talk to them, they really will answer you and sometimes swear at you !!
You will find out that your Bengal loves water. Most Bengal’s play in water be it the sink, bath, fish pond or toilet!!(you will soon learn to keep the lid down) He is not being naughty just having fun. I always advise new owners to stand the drinking bowl in an unused litter tray to cope with the overspill. They will also play for hours with you in the snow as long as you make the snowballs. You will tire of this long before they do.
Bengal’s are wonderful with children, totally confident and gentle. In fact the perfect family companion animal. They usually get along fine with other cats and seem to love dogs.
